An Overview Of Our Services
Frisco Automotive & Transmission can assist you with routine services and repairs. For instance, we’re here to take care of transmission fluid services as the manufacturer prescribes. Transmission fluid change involves draining and replacing the fluid at the appropriate time. In contrast, a fluid flush entails forcing the liquid through with a pump until all that might be still lurking in places like the differential and debris is removed. In either case, your system is refilled with fresh transmission fluid. Our experienced technicians have experience repairing each of the various kinds of transmissions. One of the more common repairs needed for manual models is clutch repair/replacement. Once this component is worn out, it cannot effectively disengage the transmission from the engine when you shift gears. Other problems include difficulty shifting and broken gears. If you operate a traditional automatic vehicle, your transmission shifts without driver effort but still uses internal gears. If something goes wrong inside, you may notice hesitation when you press the accelerator, find that your car slips in and out of gear unexpectedly, or smells like something is burning. If we discover internal damage, options include a rebuild or a replacement. Transmission rebuild involves taking the unit apart, cleaning the still good components, and replacing broken or worn ones. We’ll also replace all the gaskets and seals, as these should not be reused. This is often a faster, less expensive method than replacement. The result is a fully functioning transmission. The only drawback, however, is that a component that was not replaced could go bad sooner rather than later. Finally, we also repair continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). Instead of traditional gears with a limited number of ratios, a belt and pulley system allows for seamless transitions and a nearly limitless ratio progression.
